DSHS Council
Meeting July 9, 2008
The membership has been very
busy working to develop rules that protect the public and students,
create opportunities for students, maintain a viable state testing
option for massage school graduates, and maintain a level playing field
for all entities providing massage therapy education. The hard work of
the membership has paid off. We were able to persuade the DSHS Council
to table the proposal submitted by program staff. The DSHS Council
directed the program to go back to work, meet with the stakeholders who
were present at the January Council meeting, and come to at least 75%
agreement. Then, come back to the Council with a satisfactory product.
That did not happen because the program staff did not budge on their
positions related to testing and internship.
It is imperative that
every school owner attend the upcoming Council meeting and provide input to
the new rules proposal. This is our opportunity to be heard and our comments
and concerns to be on record!
Sincerely,
